Veeransh's voice is a cold whisper, "Don't worry, Ishika. You'll get used to it."
The car speeds away, leaving behind the shattered remains of Ishika's life, her dreams, and her freedom.
The memories swirl in Ishika's mind, a toxic cocktail of regret and anger...
She recalls the day she returned to India, the excitement of reuniting with her family and fiancé, Arnab, now a distant memory. She had spent years abroad, pursuing her medical dreams, away from the suffocating expectations of her family. But the love and support of her adoptive family, her chacha and chachi, had made the distance bearable.
As she landed in Mumbai, the first call she made was to Arnab. The phone rang, and her heart skipped a beat as she heard his voice, "Hello, Ishuu..."
"Where are you? I'm here, standing outside the airport," she said, her voice lipped with excitement.
But Arnab's response had been hesitant, his voice laced with unease, "I'm sorry, Ishuu... I got an emergency..."
Ishika's smile had slipped, her anger rising, "So, you couldn't even call me and inform me first? I told my family not to come, thinking you'd pick me up."
Arnab's apology was a feeble whisper, "I'm sorry, Ishuu..."
Ishika's anger had boiled over, and she ended the call, hailing a taxi instead.
The midnight drive was a blur, her eyes heavy with fatigue. The sudden jolt of the brakes woke her, and she sat up, disoriented. "What happened, bhaiya? Why the stop?"
The driver's eyes were wide with fear, "Maidam, it's not safe..."
Ishika followed his gaze, and her eyes widened as she took in the scene before her. A group of men, surrounding a beaten, bruised figure, pleading for mercy.
Her doctor instincts kicked in, and she pushed aside her fear, "Driver bhaiya, help him! We can't just leave him like this!"
The driver's voice was a panicked whisper, "Maidam, no! These people are dangerous... They'll kill us!"
Ishika's eyes never left the injured man, her voice firm, "I don't care. I'm a doctor. I have to help."
As she stepped out of the car, the driver's words fell on deaf ears, "Maidam, please don't go..."
The night air was thick with tension, the only sound the labored breathing of the injured man. Veeransh's eyes, cold and calculating, turned to her, his gaze piercing.
The injured man, tears streaming down his face, pleaded, "Sir, please... leave me... I won't do it again..."
Veeransh's chuckle was low, menacing, "You never get the chance to do it again... You know what I hate most?"
The words sent a shiver down Ishika's spine, her eyes fixed on Veeransh's hand, the gun gliding effortlessly into place.
"No... please..." she whispered, her voice lost in the deafening bang.
The man's body collapsed, a pool of blood spreading beneath him. Ishika's eyes froze, her rage boiling over. She pushed past Veeransh's men, her hand connecting with his cheek in a resounding slap.
Veeransh's eyes widened, his face a mask of shock, as Ishika's voice spat, "You monster! How could you?"
The world around her melted away, leaving only the sound of her own ragged breathing,
The fury in her eyes, the fire in her voice...
Ishika launched herself at Veeransh, her hands flying at him, slapping him with all the strength she could muster. "You monster! How could you?
Who gave you the right to decide who lives or dies? You don't even know how precious human life is! How much a mother suffers to give birth, how much a human life is worth... You take it all for granted, like it's nothing! You're a murderer, a monster! You killed him!"
Her words were a lipped whisper, a scream, a prayer, as she pummeled Veeransh's chest with her fists. Her anger, her rage, her helplessness, all poured out in that moment.
Veeransh's eyes, though, were a different story. They sparkled, like he'd found something he'd been searching for, something lost. His men moved forward, to restrain her, to protect him, but Veeransh's quiet signal stopped them in their tracks. "Don't. Let her be."
As Ishika's anger finally began to wade, her chest heaving with exhaustion, Veeransh's voice was low, husky. "You're a fiery one, aren't you?"
Ishika's eyes blazed, her voice venomous, "You're a murderer! A monster! I'll make sure you rot in jail for this!"
Veeransh's smirk was infuriating, his grip on her wrist firm, but gentle. "Hey, calm down, miss..."
Ishika jerked her hand away, her eyes flashing, "Don't touch me! Don't you dare touch me!"
Veeransh's chuckle was low, amused, "Oh, calm down, miss... Looks like you don't know me... yet."
Ishika's anger boiled over, "What the hell is wrong with you? You just killed someone, and you're talking like we're discussing the weather!"
Veeransh's eyes glinted, his voice dripping with amusement, "Ah, but I'm not discussing the weather, am I? I'm discussing you... and me... and what's going to happen next."
Ishika's heart skipped a beat, her mind racing with possibilities, none of them good.
Veeransh's smirk was infuriating, his eyes glinting with amusement as he said, "Don't you think it's not good for you to interfere in matters that don't concern you, ?"
Ishika's face was a mask of outrage, her voice lipped with anger, "What the hell do you mean? Are you trying to scare me?
I'm not afraid of men like you! Monsters, murderers, whatever you call yourself... I'm not intimidated."
Veeransh's chuckle was low, husky, "Huh, impressive. You have a mouth on you, I'll give you that. But let me tell you something, you don't know who you're dealing with. I'm not just a man, I'm the man. And you... you're just a small, insignificant speck in my world."
Ishika's eyes flashed with defiance, "You think you're some kind of god, don't you? Well, let me tell you something, you're nothing but a common criminal.
And I'll make sure you pay for what you've done."
Veeransh's smirk never wavered, "Oh, I'm shaking in my boots, Ishika. But let me ask you something: what makes you think you'll be the one to bring me down? You're just a fleeting moment in my life, a brief distraction. And I'll enjoy every minute of it."
Ishika's anger was a palpable thing, her fists clenched at her sides, "You'll regret the day you ever crossed paths with me, I'll make sure of it."
Veeransh's eyes sparkled with amusement, "I'm counting on it,
The scene unfolded like a slow-motion car crash...
As Veeransh's words hung in the air, a sleek black car pulled up, and Ishika's chacha, Vikram Chouhan, and her brother, Rohan, emerged. Their eyes scanned the scene, and their faces transformed from concern to alarm as they took in the sight of the body on the ground, the blood pooling around it, and Veeransh standing tall, a smirk on his face.
Ishika's chacha, Vikram, was the first to react, his voice lipped with worry, "Ishika! What happened? Are you okay?"
Hearing his voice, Ishika turned, and a look of relief washed over her face. She ran to her chacha, who enveloped her in a tight hug, patting her head gently. "Ishika, you're fine. What happened?"
Ishika nodded slowly, her eyes still wide with shock, as she took in the scene around her. Her chacha's gaze followed hers, and his expression changed, his eyes narrowing as he took in Veeransh's smirking face.
"What are you doing here, Veeransh?" Vikram's voice was cold, his tone dripping with animosity.
Veeransh's smile was devious, "Oh, Mr. Vikram Chouhan, we meet again. It's been a long time."
Rohan, Ishika's brother, stepped forward, his voice lipped with anger, "Stay away from us, Veeransh. You have no business here."
Ishika's confusion was palpable, her eyes darting between Veeransh and her family. "Do you know him?" she asked, her voice trembling.
Vikram's expression was grim, "Yes, Ishika, we know him very well. But you don't have to be here. Let's go."
Ishika's eyes flashed with determination, "But, Chacha, he killed someone right in front of me! How can I just leave?"
Veeransh chuckled, "Ah, I'm the danger, am I? Well, I think it's time I introduced myself. Hello, Ishika..."
Vikram's voice was a warning, "We see this matter later, Veeransh. Let's go, Ishika."
But Veeransh wasn't done, his eyes glinting with amusement, "I think you know this 'criminal', Ishika. Don't you, Rohan?"
Rohan's face was a mask of anger, "Shut up, Veeransh."
Ishika's mind was spinning, her eyes fixed on Veeransh, "What does he mean, Chachu?"
Vikram's voice was firm, "Nothing, Ishika. Let's go."
But Veeransh wasn't having it, his voice dripping with menace, "Stay away from my daughter, Veeransh..."
Ishika's eyes widened, her voice barely above a whisper, "What? Veeransh, he's... he's Veeransh..."
The air was thick with tension, the silence deafening, as Ishika's world began to tilt on its axis...
Ishika's eyes widened as Veeransh's words struck her like a thunderbolt. Her voice
trembled as she tried to process the reality of who he was. Rohan quickly stepped forward, holding her gently as she swayed. "Ishu, are you okay?" he asked, concern etched on his face.
"That's why we tried to keep you away from here," Rohan continued, his voice laced with worry. "Ishika, that's why we didn't want this monster to get near you again."
Ishika's voice cracked as she tried to speak, "Bhai..." Her eyes welled up with tears, and she struggled to compose herself. Taking a deep breath, she steadied herself, her eyes turning red with rage and anger.
Veeransh watched her with an amused smirk, his eyes gleaming with interest. Ishika's gaze locked onto his, and she spat, "Now I hate you even more, Mr. Veeransh Singhania."
Veeransh's smirk grew wider. "Now I like you even more, Miss Ishika Chouhan," he drawled, his voice dripping with arrogance.
Ishika's anger boiled over. "Don't you ever dare to say my name with your dirty mouth," she hissed, her voice venomous.
Rohan's grip on her tightened. "Chacha ji, bhai, let's get out of here. We don't want to see this monster again," he said, his voice firm.
As they turned to leave, Ishika paused, her eyes still locked on Veeransh. "You'll pay for what you've done," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Veeransh chuckled, the sound sending a shiver down her spine. "I'm looking forward to it, Miss Chouhan," he replied, his eyes glinting with challenge.
Ishika's anger and hatred burned brighter, but she turned and walked away, Rohan by her side. As they disappeared from view, Veeransh's smile faltered, his eyes narrowing in calculation.
